Parks

  • Home to one of the smallest ponds in The Woodlands, Entry Lake Park is a very popular fishing spot, especially during weekends. The fishing pond here is small enough that anglers can reach the center from nearly any location. But even with its small size, you can catch large bass here, as well as catfish.
  • North Shore Park in Lake Woodlands is another excellent fishing spot for bass and catfish. Anglers can try casting a line on the park’s pagoda, but the best way to catch fish here is from a boat. Other types of fish spotted in this area are tailing redfish, crappie, and yellow perch.

Ponds

  • One of the most picturesque landscaped ponds in the area, Alden Bridge Pond is actually composed of two separate ponds divided by a spillway next to a bridge. The pond is a great family-friendly location, as it has many picnic and BBQ areas, as well as a nearby park where children can play. You’ll find plenty of bluegill in this area, along with bass, catfish, crappie, and gar.
  • Creekwood Pond is the venue for the 1st and 2nd Annual Kids Catfish Derby. The pond is situated across McCullough Junior High School, and is the first park acquired in The Woodlands area, according to The Woodlands Association. You can fish from any point along its banks, but most of the fish can be caught near the deeper areas of the pond. You’ll be able to catch crappie, bass, sunfish, and catfish.

Lakes

  • Mystic Lake is a large fishing lake known for its crystal-clear waters and lush surroundings. The lake is very popular as it is home to some very aggressive bass which are fairly easy to catch, even for beginners. Other fish include large catfish, bluegill, koi, and the occasional goldfish.

Located near the northwest corner of The Woodlands, Cypress Lake is a large fishing lake acquired in 1997. The lake has a natural island near its southern end, and many of its banks have dense vegetation, so casting can sometimes be a challenge.
